
Donald Leroy Reedy, 95, formerly of Middletown, Ohio passed on Friday, December 25, 2015 at his home in Cape Coral, Florida. He was born September 6, 1920 in Germantown, Ohio.
In January 1944, Don enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served as a tail-gunner on a B-24 Liberator in the 448th Battalion.
In 1937, Don opened Reedy Foods on Broadway Street in Middletown with his two brothers Luther and Leonard Reedy. It was there that he met a special customer, Bernice (Shaffer) Reedy, who became his wife in 1940. Together the family ran Reedy Foods for 37 years until it was purchased by Kroger in 1974.
A life-long sports fan, Don cheered loudest for the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and Ohio State football. He and Bernice also enjoyed fishing together at their retirement home on Sanibel Island and later Pine Island, Florida as well as traveling for summer stays in Ely, MN.
Preceded in death by Bernice, their son Dr. Michael Reedy (Robin), his brother Leonard and sister, Ruby, Don is survived by his daughter, Lyn Ring (Indianapolis); son, Scott Reedy (Cape Coral) sisters Phyllis Young, Albuquerque, NM and Virginia Hassen, Los Vegas brother, Luther (Sarasota); as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, January 4 at the chapel at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio, with a brief visitation prior to the service.
